Job Description:
Technical and enforcement work ensuring compliance with local and state laws related to animal control; all other related work as required.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High school diploma with two years experience in animal control or related field; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Class D drivers license required.
First Aid First Responder and CPR certification required.
Additional
Qualifications:
Working knowledge of animal handling procedures and practices by species and breed.
Knowledge of equipment used in capturing and restraining animals.
Knowledge of animal first aid procedures.
Knowledge of state and local laws related to animal control and protection.
Thorough knowledge of animal diseases and quarantine procedures.
Working knowledge of the Town and surrounding area's geography.
Knowledge of applicable court procedures.
Ability to prepare, complete and maintain a variety of standard reports.
The ability to deal with customers and customer complaints in a courteous, but firm manner.
The ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to handle potentially dangerous domestic and wild animals.
Proficiency in the use of computers including word processing, spreadsheets and database.
Strong skills in dealing with animals.
$29.
26 hourly, 40 hours per week.
Temporary position, minimum 6 weeks, not to exceed 6 months.
